A form letter dated April 1944 from the India Association for American Citizenship, Inc. asking the addressees for their support of Bills H.R. 4415, H.R. 4479, and S.1595, legislation to allow naturalization of Indian nationals in the US.

"A Quota For India Too"
An article written April 1944 by Anup Singh, Director of Research of the India League of America, regarding the history of citizenship of Indians in the US. Singh states that because the Chinese were allowed a quota for citizenship, Indians should also be allowed a naturalization quota. Singh notes that Indians were previously allowed citizenship up until 1923.

"What U.S. Citizenship Means To India"
An abridged version of a speech given by Aftab Ali on May 18, 1944 at an Indian Association for American Citizenship dinner. Aftab Ali was President of the Indian Seamen’s Union. Ali mentioned that while Indians risk their lives fighting against Germany and Japan, a dozen Indian seamen were detained at Ellis Island.

Letter dated May 17, 1944 from R.J. Thomas, President of the United Automobile, Aircraft, Agricultural Implement Workers of America, to N.R. Checker, President of the of India Association for American Citizenship, Inc. Thomas wrote to inform Checker that he wrote to his Senator and Congressman to support Bills H.R. 4415 and H.R.

Letter from Walter White to N.R. Checker
Letter dated April 29, 1944 from Walter White, Secretary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, to N.R. Checker, President of the of India Association for American Citizenship, Inc. White responded to a letter from Checker asking for support of Bills H.R. 4415 and H.R. 4479, to permit the naturalization of Indian nationals in the US.

Letter from B.F. McLaurin to A. Choudry
Letter dated May 15, 1944 from B.F. McLaurin, International Field Organizer of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, to Mr. A. Choudry, Secretary of the India Association for American Citizenship, Inc. McLaurin responded to a letter from Choudry showing his support of Bills H.R. 4415 and H.R.

American Asiatic Association Resolution
A resolution dated March 16, 1944 proposed by Vernon L. Whitney of the American Asiatic Association. The resolution was voted for and adopted on March 15, 1944. The Association resolved to recommend to the United States Congress that the U.S. immigration laws be amended to allow the people of India to be admitted to the U.S. on a quota basis similar to the citizens of other countries.

S.1595
A Senate Bill, entitled S. 1595 and introduced by Mr. Langer of North Dakota on December 15, 1943, to permit approximately 3,000 natives of India who entered the United States prior to July 1, 1924 to become naturalized citizens. The Bill was referred to the Committee on Immigration.

Letter from India Welfare League, Inc. to Senator Richard B. Russell
Letter dated May 2, 1944 from Mubarek Ali Khan, President, and Hans Stefan Santesson, Secretary of the India Welfare League, Inc., to Senator Richard B. Russell, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Immigration. The letter inquired as to whether a hearing would take place in regards to Bill S. 1595, which if passed, would permit the naturalization of Indian nationals in the United States.

Letter from James L. Wilmeth to Senate Immigration Committee
Letter dated December 17, 1943 from James L. Wilmeth, National Secretary of the National Council of the Junior Order United American Mechanics to the Senate Immigration Committee in regards to Bill S. 1595, which if passed would permit the naturalization of Indian nationals in the United States.
