DESCRIPTION
September 1958 article from the Washington Diplomat entitled “Our Congressman From India," profiling US Representative Dalip Singh Saund. The article discusses a 1957 speech Saund gave and details his successful campaign against Jacqueline Cochran Odlum the year before. It also mentions Saund’s refusal to give up his religion in order to assimilate in the US, provides an overview of his life’s major events, and includes his assertion that he encountered no racial discrimination on the campaign trail.
