Minal Ahson Oral History Interview
DESCRIPTION
Minal Ahson is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She completed her undergraduate and medical education from the University of Miami, internship from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, residency from the University of South Florida and a Masters in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is devoted to humanitarian medicine and has traveled to many countries, providing medical aid to marginalized and refugee communities. She also serves on committees and board of directors to continue these efforts from home.
She has received the Healthcare Hero Award from the USF Department of Internal Medicine, Leadership in Healthcare Philanthropy Award from Women 2 Women Forum, and Pakistani American Women Leadership and Community Mobilization Award from American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee. She recently completed a Civic Health Fellowship with Vote-ER to focus on community empowerment and mobilization of underserved communities.
Minal is a born and raised Florida girl, but loves to fill up her passport whenever she gets the chance. She also enjoys British comedies, Peloton, and is probably one of the few people left who still physically writes in a planner.
