The Hindusthanee Student (January 1917)
DESCRIPTION
The January 1917 issue of The Hindusthanee Student (Vol. 3, No. 4) was published from the Nalanda Club in Urbana, Illinois. The Hindusthan Association of America (H.A.A.) had changed leadership, with Rafidin Ahmed presiding as President and Surendra Karr as General Secretary. Included in the issue is a "Report of Mass Meeting to Discuss Burnett Immigration Bill," held in Chicago, by M. Austine Stanley. In a message that opens the issue, Ahmed discusses the need for a Women's auxiliary with H.A.A., as well as for agitation against the Burnett Immigration Bill. Much of the content for the issue is a program and detailed report of the proceedings at the fifth annual convention of the H.A.A., held in New York.
