The Hindusthanee Student (March 1916)



DESCRIPTION
The March 1916 issue of The Hindusthanee Student (Vol. 2, No. 6), published from the Nalanda Club in Berkeley, California. The issue focuses in large part on Lala Lajpat Rai, who resided in the U.S. between 1914 and 1919. Contents include a "Message from Lala Lajpat Rai," "Lala Lajpat Rai on Education in America," as well as poems by Dwijendrolal Roy (translated by Benoy Kumar Sarkar) and an essay on "Chemistry and Allied Industries of the U.S.A." by V.S. Kokatnur. The issue includes two photographs: a well-circulated image of Lala Lajpat Rai, and a picture of a banquet given in honor of Lajpat Rai by the California Chapter of the H.A.A. at Hotel Shattuck on February 12, 1916.
