Join the inaugural SAADA Undergraduate Editorial Board

SEPTEMBER 10, 2012

The South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA) is now accepting applications from undergraduate students for its inaugural SAADA Undergraduate Editorial Board!

SAADA is the only independent non-profit organization working systematically to document the rich history of the South Asian American community and ensure that these important stories are more widely known and preserved for future generations. All the materials SAADA collects are freely accessible to the public online at http://www.saadigitalarchive.org

SAADA's undergraduate editorial board will create and publish a new bi-annual online journal featuring undergraduate research and projects that document and explore the South Asian American community. With guidance and support from SAADA staff and the faculty advisor, the undergraduate editorial board will develop guidelines for the journal, solicit contributions from students around the country, select articles for inclusion, and publish the online journal through the SAADA website. The board will also be responsible for maintaining an ongoing blog.

This is an exciting opportunity to create the first journal dedicated entirely to undergraduate research on the South Asian American community and its history! You will be part of a dedicated team of your peers, help raise awareness about important narratives from the South Asian American community, work with an innovative non-profit organization and contribute to the national dialogue about South Asian American history and current issues!

Your responsibilities as a member of the editorial board will be as follows:
· Working with others on the editorial board to develop and publish a bi-annual online journal
· Writing at least one blog post per week
· Committing 1-2 hours of time per week
· Participating in a monthly conference call
· Being on the editorial board for a full calendar year

You must currently be an undergraduate student at a college or university in the U.S. to be eligible for a position. Anyone with an interest in the South Asian American community and its history is encouraged to apply!

You can contact Samip Mallick (SAADA's Executive Director at samip@saadigitalarchive.org) or Prof. Fariha Khan (SAADA Undergraduate Journal Faculty Advisor at fariha@sas.upenn.edu) with any questions about SAADA's undergraduate editorial board or the application process.

Applications are due by 11:59pm Eastern Time on Monday, October 15, 2012.
