DESCRIPTION
Letter from Mumtaz Kitchlew to Abnashi Ram, dated July 28, 1970 and postmarked from Chicago. In the letter, Kitchlew reflects on Ram's trip to Kashmir, recalls his uncle Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew's 1929 arrest, sends condolences for the loss of Ram's brother Lachman Das, and mentions the recent burglary of his shop in Chicago (at a $300 loss). He also mentions a riot in Chicago's Grant Park after a cancelled Sly & the Family Stone concert, during which police used tear gas on the crowd.
