Immigration File for Jagger Singh

DESCRIPTION
Immigration arrival investigation case file for Jagger Singh (Case File No. 12691/8-1). Singh arrived in San Francisco aboard the S.S. Korea on May 19, 1913. On May 21, he was interrogated by Inspectors D.J. Griffiths (chair), E.L. Kimmel, J.A. Robinson, with the assistance of Interpreter D.S. Dady Burjar. During the interrogation, Singh explains that he had been to the U.S. three years prior, working for the Vigorit Powder Company in Point Isabel, California. At the conclusion of the interrogation, the board unanimously votes that Singh be denied landing “for the reason that he is liable to become a public charge and that there is not work available for this class of alien at the present time, in this State.”
