About SAADA
SAADA (the South Asian American Digital Archive) is a non-profit organization committed to creating a more just, open, and plural society. By giving voice to South Asian Americans through the documentation, preservation, and dissemination of stories, histories, artifacts, and experiences that represent their unique and diverse experiences, SAADA works toward American and world histories that are radically inclusive. In particular, SAADA is committed to representing and supporting communities that have been historically marginalized and silenced. SAADA strives to build collections that reflect the vast diversity of South Asian Americans on the basis of national, religious, regional, caste, socio-economic, gender, sexual orientation, and cultural identity.

About SAADA's Academic Council
Members of the Academic Council are asked to make the following commitments for a term running from May 1, 2021 - April 30, 2022:

1. A commitment to attend at least three of four virtual meetings of the Academic Council (our first meeting will be held on May 26, 2021, from 4-5:30pm EST on Zoom; dates for the following three meetings to be announced).

2. A commitment to contribute to SAADA’s annual fundraising efforts. Council Members are asked to directly contribute and/or fundraise at least $500 per year. This can be done through any combination of your own donation, fundraising for the organization through our summer or year-end campaign, organizing a fundraising event on your campus, or including SAADA in a grant. SAADA and the Council Co-Chairs will support you in this effort.

3. Serve on one Academic Council committee, either related to TIDES or Campus Connections. The Tides committee will support the creation of a dynamic space for public scholarship on South Asian America. The Campus Connections committee will help leverage academic networks and institutional resources to support SAADA and promote the organization’s mission.

4. Encourage your network to contribute materials, ideas, and resources to help build the archive.

5. Be available for media inquiries on topics related to your field of expertise, and act as an ambassador for the organization to help raise awareness and broaden the organization's reach.
