The inaugural issue of The India Liberator (Vol. 1, No. 1), edited by Ishwar Chandra and published in September 1917 from Berkeley, California. The issue contains reports on Indian nationalist leader Bal Gangadhar Tilak and several polemical articles on the British rule of India.
