Amy Laly was born in Northern India in 1947. Shortly after the Partition of India, her family moved to Bombay where she and her three siblings and parents lived. She started her undergraduate education at the University of Bombay and then migrated to the United States to complete her education.
Oral History Interview with Dev R. Manhas
Dr. Manhas grew up in the state of Jammu-Kashmir and received his MBBS degree from Government Medical College Amritsar (Punjab). He came to the University of Washington in 1967 to do his residency and subsequently specialized as a cardio-thoracic surgeon. He has been practicing in the Seattle area since his arrival and retired in March 2007 as a well-respected physician in his field.
